Mnemba Island
Zanzibar, Tanzania · November 2024

Off Zanzibar’s north-east coast, &Beyond Mnemba Island sits on its own small isle, wrapped by reef and a thin line of forest—reachable by boat, then lived on at barefoot pace. Accommodation is limited to 12 thatched “bandas” (including a family option), airy and open to sea breezes, set close to the sand so the day can run straight from bed to beach. The style is intentionally simple: comfort without clutter, privacy created by space and foliage rather than heavy architecture. Days revolve around the water and the tide line, with snorkelling on the surrounding reef, reef walks at low tide, sailing at dusk and quiet corners for yoga under shade. The lodge leans into conservation language and links stays to reef support, which fits the setting: sea, silence, and a rhythm that asks little of you.
